Mine also broke upon my first try at using it. BUT it still works! I just slipped the band back over the plastic bar that snapped and I make sure to hold it so it doesn't slip while rolling. This thing still makes rolling dolmades sooooo much easier than doing it by hand. I'm just an American trying to make my favorite Greek appetizer at home, so I don't care if hand rolling is supposed to be better, lol. All my grape leaves come out uniform and neat!
It won't survive long if you try to put it in the dishwasher - the fabric strip comes unraveled. But it rinses pretty well and does not need scrubbing, so that's fine. I totally recommend this if you like making these kinds of dishes every so often!
