Twinkly Strings Christmas Tree Lights

Christmas tree fairy lights are generally one color, tangled in a ball, and kind of boring! The only thing that is even more boring is a christmas tree with no lights. Therefore, sooner or later you have to untangle the pile of cables that has been gathering dust in a box since last january. Or you can leave the pile of lights and cables where it is and greet the christmas tree of the future with the app-controlled christmas lights twinkly strings!

First you decorate your fir tree with Twinkly. When the chain of lights is hanging, it shows what it’s made of. The Twinkly app uses LED mapping for a light show that puts everything in the shade: Film your Christmas tree with your smartphone, in this way the app recognizes where each individual lamp is.

You can then either choose one of the many preset light effects or control the lights individually, i.e. you can set exactly which lamp should light up or flash in which color and when. Let your Christmas tree shine in classic red and green when you are waiting for Santa Claus or when you are flashing in the colors of the rainbow! The app synchronizes with the fairy lights in real time. If you have set colors and effects in the app, you will see the effects directly on the Christmas tree.

We have two versions of Twinkly String: with 250, 400 and 600 LED lights. You can synchronize up to ten fairy lights in the app, which results in almost unlimited possibilities to transform your home into a brightly colored winter wonderland! The light chain is suitable for use in the house and connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

First off, let me start by saying we have about a 7’ tree and a 400 light kit for the tree was PERFECT!! Even had additional lights left over to cover thinly lit areas.
The phone app “maps” the lights, so you’re able to overlap and I was able to go back over areas without worry the lights weren’t in sequence. The mapping process puts the lights in the necessary order to give you the effect you’re trying to accomplish.
Set up was super simple and we had fun playing with the settings. The video shows just how great these lights work!! Video doesn’t do the colors justice... we used Christmas green and red although the video looks like something else.
All we can keep saying is WOW OH WOW!!

These lights are exactly what I've been looking for to give my Christmas tree that extra 'wow' factor. I first saw these in pre lit trees at Lowes, but didn't really need a new tree. After finding them on shop, I bought the new version of the app driven Twinkly lights. They aren't cheap, but the amount of customization available through the app is well worth the price. It's a huge step up from strands of randomly twinkling lights or colored chasing lights. Very ready to install, per the instructions incised with the lights. And it's very important that you actually read the instructions, as light placement is key for the app to work correctly. Once they're on the tree, have fun! There's a ton of customization available, and you can change designs very easily. I have them on a seven foot tree, and I'm very happy with the amount of lights. A smaller set on this size tree would be to little, in my opinion.

I even set it up to turn on and off using Alexa. Everyone who came over to our house last year was absolutely mesmerized by the lights and what they could do. Firmware updates keep it running in tip-top shape. They were easy to install and put away (although time-consuming to get back into the original box). The Twinkly app needs some work - you can only save so many designs to a playlist, and the playlist gets deleted if you change the active design. I also was disappointed that the sound feature has to be used through your smartphone WITH the app open unless you buy the Twinkly Music Dongle. I went ahead and got it, but with this price tag you would think that feature would be included. Regardless, I'm already eyeing Twinkly's other products to fully deck my halls this Christmas. I'm also excited that they can be used year-round given the versatility of the lights.

I am extremely pleased to report that I was completely wrong. These lights work exactly as advertised. After adding the lights to the tree (start in the middle, then go up and down as instructed) and downloading the app, the lights weren't really doing what we hoped. After using the app to map the lights on our tree, it all started working perfectly! Even our janky and lumpy old artificial tree looks incredible with these lights! They are well worth the investment, and we look forward to enjoying them all season long.
