I have been using this telescope for about 1 year now and have really enjoyed it. I have been able to look at the moon, see the rings of Saturn and observed the different colored bands of gasses on Jupiter. Overall this has been a wonderful beginners telescope.

We bought this to look at the Neowise comet. However, we couldn’t find the comet where we live. We did see Jupiter and 3 of its moons. That was an amazing thing to see with the telescope. One thing to consider is to use a better tripod than the one included with this one. The included tripod is jumpy and makes it difficult to lock in the object in the viewfinder. The included backpack is very handy and we like the portability of this.

This is the first telescope I brought, so I had no real expectations coming in. It was a gift from Santa last year to my five-year old daughter. I've been pleasantly surprised by it's capabilities. We live in NYC, so not ideal viewing conditions, but on clear nights we've seen the rings of Saturn (small, but clearly differentiated from the planet itself), all four Galilean moon around Jupiter, some faint banding on Jupiter itself, the redness of Mars, and crystal clear craters on the moon. I think it's a fantastic first telescope for a kids since it's very portable and easy to set up. As other reviewers have noted, the tripod is total crap. But hey, $70 to see all that you can see with it (and consume next to no closet space), sign me up.

I bought this Celestron 70 telescope for my grandson who was interested in my astronomy hobby. I thought it a good starter for a kid. When it arrived I took a few minutes to assemble it and to try it out. OMG! I was amazed at what this little scope could do! Very clear optics and easy to use. Easy to see Saturn's rings, Jupiter's moons and the Moons surface. Simple? Yes, but is a perfect first telescope. I've paid thousands of dollars for high-end telescopes that were frustrating and difficult to use and got zero help from the manufacturers. For 75 bucks this little jewel rocks! highly recommended.

After reading several reviews and top 10 lists, I can see why this is always considered the best if not one of the best portable beginer telescopes on the market. Upon opening the box, I was pleasantly shocked that the device is so small that is capable of being packed in a small backpack (In fact comes with one on the box). In terms of the scope itself, it comes with 2 quality lenses (similar to the lenses found on more expensive models) magnification is good, not great (40x max) but considering the size one cannot ask for more. With good lightning this little scope is capable of capturing of great images of the moon, stars and possibly even nebulae under the right conditions. In short, this is a fantastic value for both beginer astronomers and thos with experience but with the need of something capable, and portable.

This is a great entry level telescope. Be advised you likely won’t be able to really see anything beyond the moon, I think the description said you could see the rings of Saturn. I couldn’t see Venus much less Saturn however other than that slight over statement of its ability it’s a great little lightweight and easily portable telescope and I have thoroughly enjoyed it and consider a good bargain as well.

I bought this for my 12 year old sons birthday based on the reviews that this is a great beginners telescope. He was so excited and immediately went outside to look at the moon- he was able to use the viewfinder and had the telescope focused in less than 5 minutes. The tripod is unstable which per other reviews we expected but all in all a great purchase.

I purchased this to be the first telescope I have ever own. I am immensely satisfied with it, having used it about 9 times now I have totally mastered the mechanics and can assembly in 5 minutes and aim at objects with relative ease. Jupiter's moons and Saturn's rings are visible with this scope. It is super light to boot. Overall this is an excellent product that I recommend for anyone in a position similar to myself, looking to buy a first scope.

Got this for my 10-year old daughter. I have to say, it was easy to set up and take down. Works way better than any telescope than I had growing up. She seems to find it easy to operate. I do wish the tripod was a little higher and a little sturdier, but I ended up just using one of my camera tripods for the time being. Definitely cool for the budding astronomer though (and their parents). A friend of mine who is a bit more into it, said this was a decent portable telescope and is now thinking of getting one after checking this one out.

I bought this telescope for my boyfriend for Christmas since he loves watching the meteor showers and anything astronomy. He said he had it built quickly and easily, just waiting on a nice night sky to look at the stars. I loved the added feature of the free app that you can download to know when certain meteor showers or constellations will be visible. I highly recommend this product!
