   We used this to secure our college daughter's back patio door at her rented town house which was easy to pop open as the door didn't have a great seal. Made for use with hotel doors that have a small gap to allow the device to be inserted between the door and the jam. Once installed (which is really very easy) then there is NO opening the door from the outside even if you have key! Will give you piece of mind for sure.

   It is well made and very easy to use. At first, it feels awkward to put on and take off the door. But after a week of using it, we all became comfortable with it. It provides exactly the little extra assurance while we are home that someone will not be able to open the door just by picking our keyed lock from the outside. Our door at our apartment doesn't have a second blind deadbolt so if you could pick the lock or had a key, you could enter.

   I bought this out of curiosity; I didn't really expect much... but it works great! I was planning to move from a house (where I have chains installed on the doors) to an apartment where I was concerned the landlord would not want any hardware installed on the doors. I was also concerned about other people having keys, as is always a possibility in an apartment situation. So I bought one of these to try and I was really surprised how well it works. Obviously I did not try to forcefully open the door because I did not want to cause any damage, so I don't know how this holds up to any amount of force. But the door won't open normally from the outside or inside. (I don't have small children anymore, but I'd image this would be good for keeping them from opening the doors and wandering outside without supervision.) The best part is there's no damage to the door or the frame. When it 's removed, there's no sign it was ever there.

   This thing brought me so much peace of mind. My graduate school has two campuses. When students have to take an intensive class on another campus there is a list of people who are willing to host them for free. I was staying with a woman whom I did not know and even though she seemed very nice, there was a man who was living there that I did not meet and he was not her husband. I still don't know who he was and it doesn't really matter - except that I could not sleep the first time I stayed there because there was no lock on the door. After I got this it made my stays there so pleasant and I actually got some sleep! We take this with us when we are staying in a hotel too and it is just that added piece of security that makes us feel a bit safer. This is a great invention and super easy to use once you get the hang of it!

   As long as the lock is standard, this works perfectly. I have used it in US hotels and even my own home. Unfortunately, I couldn't use it as much as I wanted in airbnbs and hotels in Europe since the locks were not standard size and sometimes the lock was too close to the wall. But when I could use it, I felt much safer. My advice...bring this for sure on your travels, and perhaps bring a wedge for the bottom of the door in case this doesn't work.

   i bought this for travel security but used it recently to keep a 3 year old from escaping the house. locks doors that open inwards if they have a metal strike plate recessed into the doorjamb. you insert a metal piece that sits in the strike recess, close the door, slide the plastic piece grooves over studs on the metal piece and it blocks the door from opening. takes about 30 seconds after the first use. 5 seconds to remove. my clever grandson couldn't figure it out and remained safely inside. would work equally well in a hotel room or rental condo, etc. i liked it so well i bought another. came in a nice cloth pouch with instructions. unless you made an effort it would be hard to damage it.

   I'm an engineer and when this thing arrived, I let it sit on my desk for a few days. There were more than a couple of steps in the instructions and the device itself did not make it obvious how it worked so I wanted a little time to patiently figure it out. When at last I read the instructions and installed it, I was amazed at how clever it is and how well it works. I bought it for an exterior door on my house that temporarily isn;t closing properly (wood is a little warped from recent rains) so it provides peace of mind that the house is all locked up at night. Once that door is fixed, this will come with me on my travels. Only wish there were other color options than red. White would be a great choice so it is not as obvious when installed.

   Super simple to use and to place/remove. There are a few door latch types with which this device doesn't work (seek out specification descriptions online--I don't know the terminology well enough to be able to reliably share in simple/concise terms which types specifically), but seems to be the case that it works with about 95% of US/North American residential door latches, and I'd say in our experience, about 65% of hotel doors. We stay at mid to upper range places, and it is in the better/newer places where the latches are more modern and this version of Addalock seems not to fit/work. Anyhow, very much recommend for quality, basic add-on home and travel security purposes. We are happy with ours.

   I got this product because my wife and I live in an apartment where the maintenance staff enters without an adequate heads up. I read the instructions for literally 2 minutes and installed it with no problem. I didn't even show my wife the instructions..i just told her what to do and she had it on in 2 minutes. Before she put it on, I stepped outside and when she gave the go ahead, I tried to open the door. I am a 225 pound man and I gave the door a considerable amount of force, and it would not open. And by the way, we of course had the deadbolt unlocked.

   I originally bought this for myself but it did not fit my door as it jams when it rains. Went to visit a friend who had recently had a break in and thought maybe she could use it. I’m so glad I did! We tried it out on her door and it was a fit! Finally she felt comfortable in her home again since this made it very difficult for anyone to get in. I would suggest it. Your peace of mind is priceless.
