   First of all, it works. Don’t expect icicles, though. In my test it reduced the ambient temperature of the direct area it was in (1 meter in front of the unit) by about 7 degrees, from 85 degrees to 78 degrees. It also increased the relative humidity from 28% to 41%. If your relative humidity is already high then this will not help cool you, because it requires somewhat drier air to work well, same as any evaporative cooler.

   This will not cool a room, but it literally creates a microclimate around your desk. I am using this in my home office which faces west and gets into the low 90s in the afternoon. This device keys me comfortable by blowing air in the low 70s directly at me. I can immediately feel the difference when leaving my chair and walking to the other side of the room. I too was skeptical when they mentioned micro climates, but if you are using this at a desk, and you don't need to move around the room that much, this will really create a bubble of cool air around you. I actually used it on level 2 (out of 4) because I got cold.

   My Portable Ac Air Conditioner arrived yesterday so this is my second day trying it out. For my first use, I used water that had been chilled in the refrigerator and turned it up on high. It was like sitting in front of an open freezer. It felt lovely at first, but then got TOO COLD! I turned it down to the lowest setting. It lowered the temperature if the ROOM by 5 degrees F.

   I use this for my home office in an upstairs bedroom that naturally gets warmer than the rest of the house, but now is even worse with all the equipment I need to do my job (two computers, four monitors, two televisions, and lights everywhere). It's not a big room (10x12). This little unit does NOT cool down the entire room as if a proper window air conditioner would. But it does cool ME down, and frankly that's all I care about (the books on the bookcases don't need to be "cool"). Because the house is centrally air-conditioned, the humidity in the house is already low, otherwise this unit would not be as effective. But again, this little unit is just enough to take the edge off the heat in the room from all my equipment.

   I've been using this for my babies room for sometime now and it works great with the right conditions. I live in 3 store building and my babies in the third floor which gets hotter faster than the rest of the house. The main reason we got this unit is for babie's nap time during the day. Now we do not have to keep the AC on all day in the summer because this can be used instead for the baby and we are just fine with out AC anyway in east-coast. This is not to cool the whole room though, it is a personal device and it should directly at the baby. But it uses little energy and hopefully this will save some money on my electricity.
