I bought six of these for 8 to 10 year old grandkids at the holidays. What a hit! They arent toys and are not meant for outdoors. The only risk is the dads taking over and refusing to give the thing back to the kid. The battery gives something like ten min flying time, not a-typical for these, and you can probably buy a spare battery and charger cheaply.

Got one of these for each of my boys, ages 9 and 15. Both loved it. Picked this particular model after a lot of reading on the manufacturer website-- this one has the full gyro setup and so is among the easiest to fly -- the models do vary in this regard - some are considerably more stable than others, and this is among the most stable. In fact, they found it easy to fly. Both have crashed a ton, and despite looking very fragile, they are light and have lots of flexible joints, and so generally just fly again. That said, my younger son broke a pin in the rotors after a couple of weeks. For something like this, I consider that a pretty good run. They definitely are for INDOORS flying only. Even with nearly windless conditions outside, it's not controllable outside.

I bought this for my 9 year this past Christmas, but I am 49 and his brother is 13 and all three of us really enjoy flying this thing. So much so that I just purchased 2 more of these. My 9 year old is an expert now at flying it, and as I was typing this flew it into my office with a sticky note taped to the bottom of it for me to read. Absolutely amazing at how realistic this thing flies, and how easy it is to make it hover and fly from room to room in the house. In a very short time, you are able to fly it. One word of caution, he took it to his grandmothers house and she had ceiling fans turned on in the living room. Just that little bit of air current really caused havoc in it's flying ability, so they don't mix. I would highly recommend this toy.

I'm impressed with the durability, too. While I'm sure I could destroy it pretty quick if I tried, I have had numerous crashes that make me cringe, but it just picks back up and keeps flying. The blades are getting some small nicks and chips, and I'm sure eventually they will give out eventually. But it stands to take a fair amount of abuse before then.

My daughter and I were in the store buying a gift for her older brother, she really wanted to get him an Air Hog partly because that's what he asked for and partly because she recognized the name. We checked the reviews on my phone and all the items she was interested in got terrible reviews, but in one review there was a recommendation for this brand so we put the Air Hog back and came home and ordered it.

I bought this copter to fly with my young daughters. My oldest was 2 at the time, and now our middle daughter is 2 years old. Even around a two year old, this copter is pretty safe. Yes, if they reach out and get their hands or their face in the way of the blades, it's going to sting, but in the three or four accidents we've had like that, it has never broken the skin or caused any significant injury. The copter is light enough that it tends to strike hard (like a very sharp slap) and immediately repel itself away from whatever it strikes, as long as you cut power immediately by releasing the left thumbstick. And after the first accident where each daughter got a little overexcited and rushed in to get "bit" by the blades, they became much more cautious afterward, which is why we had so few accidents in two years.

Based on personal knowledge and abservation from 2 friends that has this specific item, and also based on the reviews of this item and the many others like it, I bought this one, actually 2 of them. Comes assembled, and ready to fly. Both had enough juice in the battery to fly for several minutes. It will take a bit to get used to, but, it's very easy to begin flying like a pro. The instructions are written in broken english,,,and are not very clear on a few points, but, you can get the jist of what they're saying. Tiny on/off switch could be a problem down the road, particularly for a 5 yr old, but he did fine. The recharge port is tiny too,,,,,and seems frail. But, the durability is amazing when it crashes! The break away rotors are the key,,,,no resistance, so it gives a lot when hit. I highly recommend buying the separate charger,,,it charges much faster than the USB charger. I also bought an extra full rotor blade set, just in case.

I had picked this up after my younger siblings had this little astronaut guy that simply went up in the air rather fast, I asked how much it costed and was surprised it was cheap and this got me searching and thinking. I was glad to come across a intro device that was cheap yet fun and easy to use as well as effective at doing what it says. It surely took a bit to get my bearings down and once I had it only became more fun to use. It seems animals are terrified of it yet oddly attracted to it so do expect them sitting with their heads to the side when you first bring it out. My son also experiences a love hate with it while my daughter just loves watching it fly around and tries to stand under it while its in the air.

Read all the reviews and ordered despite the apparent hit or miss on quality. This apache has performed flawlessly. Probably cycled the battery two dozen times now and no complaints. Easy to get the hang of it and fun, especially in an open floor plan with high ceilings. Took a pounding during the learning curve - falls from 20 feet up onto wood floors and a 6 year old who kept the power fire walled after the thing had crashed. - and just kept on flying every time we turned it on. No broken parts yet. The blades do pick up nicks quickly on their leading edges. As cheap as they are, it's a good idea to order replacement parts and a spare battery. Might as well do it at the same time you get the helicopter or soon after. Now just trying to decide which model to get next.

I have had well worth the fun with this little helicopter. It flies for about 5-10 minutes, is suprisingly stable and controlled, and due to the stabilty, it makes it fun working to fly by air vents and land on small pads. I think I would have gotten bored quickly had this thing not required me to really focus and anticipate while I manuver it. That is oddly what makes it so much fun!
