At first they dont want to really "fly", but once you wind them a few times and break in the rubberband they work better. You definitely want to give them a good wind, but not so much that you bust the rubberband like I did on one 😂

The amount of times the rubberband is wound is critical and can differ between butterflies in the set. Also, placement/orientation in a book/card requires many tries to get it right. The act of opening the suprise book/card requires some instruction as the card tilt matters. Now from a toy perspective, I challenged my 8yo to figure it out and it kept her busy repeating tries. So... as an activity toy it's not bad, but as a suprise butterfly released from a birthday card it's disappointing.
