Santa just goes up and down the ladder, but the figure moves so realistically, I might expect Santa to get off the ladder and walk around benevolently hanging Christmas lights and playing music. Nothing like the "Talking Tina" episode from the old 'Twilight Zone' TV program, but we thought it a very good idea to treat Santa nice and leave milk and cookies. That last part is not in the instructions, but should be. This is a very clever decoration, and you will enjoy it.
