The instructions weren't written in a clear and concise way but it was pretty easy to set up and even months later I've not had to add water or redo the setup. My daughter loves having this on at night. The colors are great and the jelly fish look lifelike. It does have a noise. Kind of sounds like an aquarium would sound if you had a small one.
