It does turn off to keep from overheating, but the warmth was trapped inside, so it never got cold. It plugs in to the wall, but I was comfy sitting on my sofa watching a documentary while I steamed. The cap is adjustable for a comfortable fit. I'm satisfied!

This gets nice and hot, cycles on and off every ten minutes (I guess so it doesn’t get too hot). When it cycles off it will feel less warm but don’t be fooled, the cap is well insulated and the heat stays in. The liner cap that it comes with is decently big and I can fit all of my hair in, and it doesn’t seem to get stained or anything by my oil treatments so that’s nice that I don’t have to create waste using processing caps. Overall I am completely satisfied with this, I just wish it was cuter. I look like a total weirdo wearing a pink bucket on my head.
