My wife always had trouble cutting open the plastic-wrapped Fort-Knox packaging that come from the stores, plus we'd both get our hands hacked up trying to use a knife or scissors to open them. The "dead man" safety switch is activated by squeezing the bottom toward the body, which means even someone with small hands can squeeze the switch AND press the power button on top, even while maneuvering for a good cutting angle. Don't know how long the blade will stand up to that sort of use, but so far it's simply outstanding.

I love these! They are quieter than most I've used. I love that the best about them. But they work great too. I use them for boxes and wrapping presents. They were a little awkward to cut wrapping paper at first (I think because they are designed to use on thicker things, like cardboard boxes.) But, I quickly adjusted to them and they work great. I have other electric scissors that are probably not as awkward for wrapping but, because of how much quieter these are, I prefer these. Hope this helps!

I have had no such problem because I allow the cutter to do the work and not push it into the material; which could be the source of others’ problem. If you don’t try pushing the cutter into the material (generally cardboard) to speed it up, that problem will unlikely occur.
